Looking to upgrade your skincare routine with a high-tech at-home device? The TheraFace Mask Glo is one of the latest LED light therapy tools to land on the beauty scene, promising clearer, brighter and smoother skin in just 12 minutes a day. Using a combination of red, infrared and blue light therapy, the cordless mask is designed to target common concerns including fine lines, redness and acne-causing bacteria.
With full-face coverage and 500+ medical-grade LEDs, it aims to deliver clinic-style light therapy from the comfort of your sofa. It also features Therabody’s VibraWave technology, which adds a gentle scalp massage while you wear the mask. If you’re researching the best LED face masks, chances are this one has already caught your attention.
But does it actually deliver results? I tested the TheraFace Mask Glo daily for 12 weeks to see whether it really improves skin tone, reduces redness and softens fine lines.

How we tested the TheraFace Mask Glo
I tested the TheraFace Mask Glo daily for 12 weeks, typically in the evening after washing my face with no skincare on. This was my first experience using an LED mask, so the results are purely down to this product, and my skin was new to LED therapy. I’m 28 years old, and my main concerns are acne scarring around the chin, redness on the cheeks and fine lines on my forehead.
What’s the difference between the TheraFace Mask and the TheraFace Mask Glo?
Explaining the key differences in models, Therabody scientist Tim Roberts, MSc said: ‘TheraFace Mask Glo has been designed to provide the same high-level, effective skincare as the TheraFace Mask but at a more accessible price point. As with TheraFace Mask, TheraFace Mask Glo is cordless and hands-free, delivers clinically proven LED light doses with full-face coverage and includes scalp massage via VibraWave Technology. There are other benefits beyond the price, though. TheraFace Mask Glo offers a lighter, more breathable design and the development of this new face mask was backed by the largest clinical trial in its category.’
TheraFace Mask Glo: Whats in the box?
Inside the box, you’ll find everything you need to get started straight away. The TheraFace Mask Glo device is the star of the show, alongside a protective eye shield for added comfort during sessions and a USB-C charging cable to power it up.
One thing to note: unlike some LED masks, it doesn’t come with a storage bag, so you’ll need to store it carefully between uses.
What are the benefits I noticed using the TheraFace Mask Glo?
After diligently using my mask for 12 weeks, I started to notice my acne scarring reduce. I haven’t witnessed it helping active spots, but the appearance of scarring I’ve had for years was noticeably reduced. I also saw an improvement in the redness on my cheeks, which was previously persistent from my cheekbone down to my chin. I’ve also noticed subtle improvements in the fine lines around my under-eye area, but haven’t seen any changes on my forehead or 11 lines – for context, I’m a chronic frowner (promise I am happy!) and have rather over-the-top facial expressions.
The vitality in my skin has definitely had a boost. I’ve been testing it over the winter months (when my skin would usually be dull AF), but I’ve managed to retain a touch of glow, which I put down to the mask. I suffer with those pesky bumps on my cheeks and jawline, and I have a very minimal amount now, which is incredible, as no moisturiser, serum or magic potion has ever managed to crack this.
How long do I need to use the TheraFace Mask Glo to see results?
Therabody claims ‘both visible and measurable improvements were observed after eight weeks of daily use, with further enhancements noted at 12 weeks’. After using the mask religiously, I’d say 12 weeks is when you will most noticeably be able to spot a difference.
Does the TheraFace Mask Glo really work? The Women's Health verdict
It does indeed. Overall skin tone and texture are where I’ve noticed the most benefit, but I must stress the importance of patience and consistency – without them, the results won’t come. It hasn’t drastically changed my frown lines, but it’s not a miracle worker and isn’t going to stop my facial muscles from moving. It is important to note that the small benefit I’ve seen in my under-eye fine lines is visible, and hopefully over time this will improve further.
If you’ve always struggled with patchy redness and little bumps on your cheeks (like I have), know that this has been the only solution I’ve found that makes a difference. I’m not claiming they will completely vanish, but in my case I’ve seen a significant reduction.

TheraFace Mask Glo FAQs
How does this compare to an in-clinic LED facial or professional device?
‘TheraFace Mask Glo is backed by the largest known clinical trial of any commercially available LED mask, with 104 subjects. This exceeds FTC standards and sets a new benchmark for safety and efficacy, distinguishing it from competitors with smaller or non-transparent studies,’ says Roberts. ‘In-clinic LED facials will deliver similar doses of light to the TheraFace Mask Glo. To get the benefits, daily, consistent use is key, as there is little benefit from a single session. There are other light therapy devices in professional medical settings that will be more invasive and require a medical professional to administer to ensure safety.’
How does LED light actually change the skin?
According to Roberts: ‘LED light therapy delivers specific wavelengths of light to the skin, which each have different benefits. Red light boosts collagen synthesis and reduces inflammation, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The combination of red and infrared light penetrates deeper layers to improve tone, texture and radiance by increasing circulation. Finally, blue light targets and kills acne-causing bacteria and may also reduce inflammation.’
Can I still use my usual skincare, or do I need to change anything?
‘Yes, you will get great results if you follow with your regular skincare routine after using the mask,’ says Roberts.
