With warmer weather finally on the horizon, we’re breaking out our favorite activewear for spring. We're saying goodbye winter parkas, and saying hello fleece zip-ups. From transitional layering pieces to tees and leggings, our editors shared the fitness gear they can’t wait to wear this season.

Some of our favorite spring picks come Splits59, lululemon, Amazon Essentials, and more. When we can finally start wearing shorts again, Deals & Trends Editor Sidney Lee says SET Active’s Lux Shorts have a brushed, almost fleece-like fabric that adds some warmth even when your legs are exposed.

Associate Style & Commerce Editor Shannen Zitz says she loves layering a lightweight fleece over her workout sets on chilly spring mornings and evenings—sharing that her favorite is from Old Navy. “The slightly oversized fit and breathable cotton/spandex blend make it the perfect transitional layer that pairs well with everything from leggings to denim to lounge shorts,” Zitz says.

“This jacket talks the talk when it comes to supporting workouts, but it’s cute and sporty enough to wear to brunch with friends afterward,” Associate Health & Fitness Editor Addison Aloian says. Its fabric is flexible and breathable, and the pockets are super convenient for carrying small items around. “It’s legitimately the most flattering jacket I own, so I wear it everywhere,” Aloian adds.

“Not only is this workout top super affordable, but it’s also one of the most versatile items in my closet,” Associate Style & Commerce Editor Shannen Zitz says. Everyone needs a reliable tee, and she loves that she can wear this one to the gym or on hikes thanks to the smooth and stretchy cotton, modal, and elastane blend.

This lightweight wrap is one of Editorial Assistant Olivia Luppino’s favorite pieces for spring thanks to its flattering and functional style. Luppino says she wears it to workout classes, and the sweat-wicking fabric has a barely there feel.

The Horizon Zip-Up has a slight stretch, relaxed silhouette, and pleated details. “It’s ideal for those brisk mornings where you just need a light jacket to go over your workout clothes or something light to run errands,” Fitness Editor Cori Ritchey says. “It’s so soft and smooth!”

Zitz says she is most excited to wear these sneakers all spring and summer. They’re super sturdy and stable, making it a great cross-training sneaker for lifting, dynamic workouts, and running. However, it’s also an extremely sleek-looking and stylish shoe that’s comfortable and breathable enough to throw on for everyday walks and errands.

“This buttery soft tank is my favorite for low-impact workouts, travel days, and lounging around the house,” Deals & Trends Editor Sidney Lee says. It has low compression, but it also has a built-in shelf bra for extra support. Plus, the scoop neck and scoop back are super flattering!

“Been using these a lot for those morning early spring runs where it’s a little too cold for plain leggings,” Ritchey says. These thermal leggings are super buttery and lightly lined—they feel just like regular leggings but warmer!

The slightly oversized fit and breathable cotton/spandex blend make it this sweatshirt the perfect transitional layer, pairing well with everything from leggings to denim to lounge shorts. “It’s just extremely soft and comfortable, drapes well over the body for a flattering fit, and I find myself never wanting to take it off once I have it on!” says Zitz.

Best Bike Shorts for Spring

SET Lux Shorts

Lux Shorts

SET’s Luxform fabric is thick, brushed, and highly compressible. Lee says she loves these shorts for springtime because the nylon and Lycra blend feels warmer than most activewear fabrics, but you can still have your legs out. The high-rise and seamless design effectively smooths and keeps you feeling secure.

The nylon and spandex blend of this legging looks and feels so smooth and substantial. “I love how easy it is to style the flared bottoms with all of my shoes (including athletic sneakers, platform sneakers, boots, and slippers),” Zitz says. “It’s a great pant for spring because they don’t ever make me overheat, even while working out, but they’re weighty enough to keep goosebumps at bay on cooler days.”

Made for running and great for layering, this Brooks half-zip features thumbholes, a watch window, and sweat-wicking fabric. “Its semi-fitted silhouette leaves some breathing room, so I like to layer it over my workout sets on the way to and from the gym,” Lee says.
